Witnessing Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat

As dusk settles over the Ganges, Dashashwamedh Ghat transforms into a theatre of devotion. Brass lamps rise, conch shells sound, and priests move in synchrony—Ganga Aarti is Varanasi’s most photographed evening ritual, and for good reason.

Arrive early if you want a seat on the lower steps. Many guests prefer a quiet boat on the water: the floating view softens the crowds while keeping the firelight and chants close. Ask our front desk—we can help book a boat and advise on seasonal timing.

Staying at Raghunath Palace Home Stay? You can skip the crush entirely: the aarti takes place right below our building, so you can watch from your room window or the rooftop terrace. Dress modestly, keep valuables secure, and leave space for worshippers if you head down to the steps.

Planning this experience? Stay with us right on Dashashwamedh Ghat—Ganga-view rooms from ₹4,703/night.
